500 hour TT on engine and airframe. She weighs just over 700lbs. It was a no brainer….Have a look. I have wanted one for sometime now ad even more so when watching my buddy Steve Henry fly around.

We were hoping to be done by now but we had a significant problem with the paint wicking. Needless to say we had to wet sand the entire thing and have a do-over. The paint is now beautiful!

She is in for final assembly and looking to be flying in 3-4 weeks. 35″ AKBW’s will be on her soon and hoping she comes in under 1250…Fingers are crossed

SQ Update

This is me flying my buddies older SQ from the back seat. That always creates some excitement! Flying from back there with zero visibility creates quite a challenge but it sure is fun!

My bird is in for cover officially! Wings should be back in a week or so and the airframe is now on deck. All cables are rigged and engine is hung. It won’t be long now! The engine came back from Barrett Performance and put out a true 202HP! Total weight on the scale came in at 262lbs. Here are a couple photos from the past few weeks. My next update should have wings and airframe covered and my panel installed! SQ flying back seat

High Sierra Fly-in 2015

We have just completed the 6th annual High Sierra Fly-in! We had over 150 planes come on over the course of the weekend with 120 plus camping on Saturday night. Honestly we lost count on the actual numbers but fun was certainly had by all. Saturdays dinner played host to just over 275 people as they were fed, order entertained by a large firework display and of course the big white mans fire until the we hours of the morning.

1 pilot came all the way from Australia to visit us, cheapest another flew his 185 from Maine and many others came from all parts of the country including Canada. Mu entire year dreams about this fly in we have created in the desert and now its already over and I am already looking forward to next years event.

The STOL Drag event was a huge success. More on that in my next post but you will certainly enjoy these photos from the many various photographers that came to our event. Please also make certain to see the High Sierra Fly-in group on Facebook, the thread on Backcountrypilot.org and Supercub.org.

Air Race week

Well it’s that time of year again when airplanes going 500mph low and fast! This year it was about the 3 heavies doing there thing. RareBear, Strega and Voodo. 6 time race champion Steve Hinton Jr., was looking for his 7th tittle but the Voodo engine had other plans giving second place to the vimage image image imageery fast RareBear. Stregas pilot Hoot Gibson earned his first championship as Strega pretty much smoked the field. Always a good time to see and hear these beautiful aircraft flying.
