Ken Pietsch and his “short field” landing

Have you ever seen Ken Pietsch land his Interstate Cadet on top of the camper? If you have not, sale its a pretty neat site. He also flies his show, cheap looses an aileron, price flies recklessly, dragging his wing on the ground, etc. You get the idea. Check out this photo…

  • Did you know that he crashed a couple of weeks ago? Apparently was looking for the dropped aileron on the groun and snagged an obstacle.

  • I did hear of that. Hopefully he can perform in Reno this year. I have seen him at a lot of different air shows and his performance is unreal. He sheds an aileron at each show intentionally and then does a few different numbers and then puts it on the camper. That interstate cadet he flies is a real performer.

  • I watched him at Tucumcari in 2011 IIRC. At that time he landed on a pickyp truck, modified with a similar landing platform. That camper must’ve just ran out. I imagine it put on 50k miles a year easily. The same platform sits somewhat closer to the ground on that truck.

I’m getting my t/w training in another 1942 Cadet right now. My instructor said that Kent gave him a call once, because he has another Cadet (airworthy, not a parts airplane), looking to buy it for spares.
