The weather is starting to feel like winter…sort of

Went on a flight over the Sierra crest today looking for ski lines. Tahoe just received around 4-5 feet of snow in the alpine. The weather has not been real conducive to flying so this was my first day out in about 5 days or so. It sure felt good to fly! If you know much about the north Lake Tahoe area, cialis 40mg these photos are taken between Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, SugarBowl, Castle Peak and Mt. Lola. All of the snow you see in these photos came from one storm! Have a look…

Just a quick one today

Just a quick flight and a couple landings close to home.  Flew out to the reservoir and then our buddies property. Actual air time today was maybe 40 minutes in all. Like I said, see it was a quick one.  Winds are now coming up and we finally have big snows inbound for the next several days they are forecasting. Photos from today:

Deep into the south circuit

The tittle says it all today. We went deep into the south circuit and found ourselves down past Bishop. A flight over the area and then upward into the Whites. The White Mountains stand at just over 14,000′ however most land-able locations are around 13K. We did not land at the top today but did find ourselves doing a number of approaches looking real hard. Its really high stuff. I also need to look at a map of ownership on this land so that we can go back and land in a number of these top locations. I am pretty certain it is BLM land….but. Its just a real beautiful place! We did hit a spot on the eastside of the range at 13.2 that was real fun but did not get out and take a photo. Have a look and let me know what you think.

Three old Skywagons…

Three Skywagons went on a venture today. Once again the weather was perfect with a 6knt wind at 9000′. Windex clear skies and 50 plus degrees. It is the 9th of January. My buddies Lowrider (bumble bee) and Splashpilot (green/white) (my frequent flying companions from the BCP.org site) were out for some fun today in both of their 180’s. Rich has 300 horses pulling his with 26 inch BW’s. Mine are still bigger than yours buddy! Anyhow, all in all it was a really good day of flying. Here are some pics…

It sure feels like June-uary…

Out on the north circuit today with a few friends and a couple new ones. Started with Totem 2 then on to #1, pilule the Ranch, Frenchmans Ranch to Honey lake dry lake bed, then on over to Dead Cow lake bed. Winds were up in the mountains so around 10am we headed low and found good flying weather in the desert. Man you gotta love Nevada for that! Here are a couple photos from the day.

New Years Eve Fly-in

It was a great last day of the year. We started out as 3 planes going flying and turned into 11 all rallying our north circuit from Truckee to Susanville and all points between. We had grass, link gravel, generic sand, mud, ice and snow.  The day could not have been better. The photos will tell the story for the day…Happy New Year! Go fly and land somewhere new today!

This Old House

This old house sits on the same property as the “bumpy barn”. I usually land at the Bumpy Barn bypassing this old house but today I had the urge as its really a beautiful spot. I dont really know the history of the place but I am betting its from the early 1900’s. The property owner still has cattle around the place and it also acts as a nest for the large barn owls living in there. Anyhow, its another one for the north circuit.

Looking for some bigger tires….

Well I heard a rumor that there were some really big tires to be had. Went to the big tire store today and found more than I could use. These tires are seriously in the middle of nowhere. Guessing the nearest town is 30 miles give or take. Went flying over the top of these and thought I needed to land and have a look. The really big ones would not fit under the wing of the plane and I am running 29″ BW’s. They are not small tires already.

From that point I ventured south toward the old Fort Churchill with a quick drop in at the lake. The lake is about as good as she gets now with the low water and really cool topography surrounding. I did see several large deer and every bit of 100 plus head of wild mustangs throughout the flight. Check out some photos…
